Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay, Inc. provides quality behavioral services based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.  Our program is drawn from Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behavior and has been researched by a variety of professionals such as Dr. Vincent Carbone, Dr. Patrick McGreevy, Drs. Mark and Carl Sundberg, and James Partington.  Our programs are individualized for each child and are implemented by using teaching procedures that have proven to be most effective such as errorless learning, mixing and varying targets, teaching to fluency, and interspersing easy and difficult tasks.  The primary focus of our verbal behavior programs is to increase language, communication, and compliance while reducing disruptive behavior.  Our programs address skill deficits in the areas of visual performance, receptive language, imitation (gross motor and vocal), requesting, labeling, and answering questions.

Our teaching strategies focus on breaking a skill into small, teachable parts and providing reinforcement contingencies for successful responding.  Our fast-paced teaching allows the child to remain focused while maintaining a high level of reinforcement.  Each child’s program is individualized and implemented in a distraction-free environment by a trained behavior therapist.  Our therapists are creative and positive and thoroughly enjoy working with children.

An Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) is conducted on each child which measures and tracks skills that a typically-developing child should have in their skill repertoire.  This provides the foundation for the program development and allows us to determine the skills to be targeted.  Data is collected during each therapy session which measures the skills being acquired and provides information about future programming.  In addition, a monthly program meeting is held with the family, therapist, and consultant in order to determine progress made, remove mastered programs, add in new programs to be targeted, and to make any changes to teaching procedures, if needed.
